2021 R&A CORONATION FOURSOMES TERMS OF COMPETITION

CORONATION
FOU RSOM ES
The R&A Coronation Foursomes Stableford competition is open to all members of affiliated golf clubs in Great Britain and Ireland who hold a current WHS handicap index of 40.0 or under. The winning pair will be invited to play in the AIG Women’s British Open Pro-Am in the following year.
A club which does not permit a member (including junior members), who holds a current WHS handicap index of 40.0 or under, to compete in the Qualifying Round shall not be entitled to forward a winning pair to the Area Final. A club may not apply a different handicap limit on the event other than that of 40.0 or under.
CONDITIONS
The following conditions shall apply at all stages of the R&A Coronation Foursomes:
1. The R&A Coronation Foursomes shall be played in accordance with the Rules of Golf and Amateur Status as approved by The R&A Rules Limited.
2. In accordance with the Rules of Golf caddies are permitted. The player and their caddie are responsible for knowing the Rules. During a stipulated round, for any breach of a Rule by their caddie, the player incurs the applicable penalty.
3. Players must walk at all times during a stipulated round unless permitted to ride by the Committee. Model Local Rule G-6 is in effect. Penalty for Breach of Local Rule: The player gets the general penalty for each hole during which there is a breach of this Local Rule. If the breach occurs between the play of two holes, it applies to the next hole.
4. Each player is responsible for playing without undue delay.
5. The use of distance measuring devices is permitted at all stages of the competition and this condition overrides any local rule which has been issued by a club. (Note to Rule 4.3)
REGULATIONS
Qualifying Round
1. The Qualifying Round shall consist of 18 holes of foursomes stableford to be held during the period 1 December 2020 —20 June 2021 as decided by the Committee.
2. A Club Committee may arrange an alternative day for the Qualifying Round.
3. Members of more than one club may compete in the qualifying round at each club where they are a member but may only compete in one Area Final.
4. The Committee is responsible for the running of the qualifying round at their club.
5. Entry Fee - £4.00 (Euro equivalent) per pair. Minimum entry fee if less than 4 pairs - C16.00 (Euro equivalent).
6. Handicap allowance — 50% of teams combined Course Handicaps. All half strokes to be rounded up.
7. In the event of a tie, the winner shall be decided by card count-back using the scores for the last 9 holes (or 6 or 3 or 1). If a tie still arises, the last 6 holes of the first 9 holes (or 3 or 1) will be used. If no decision is reached, the winner shall be decided by lot.
8. The winners from each qualifying round in Great Britain and Ireland shall be eligible to compete in any of the Area Finals. If the winning pair is unable to attend an Area Final the next available pair may be substituted. Once a pair has been entered substitutions will only be considered in exceptional circumstances and limited to 2nd & 3rd placed pairs from a clubs’ qualifying round. Prior permission must be sought from The R&A.
9. The Secretary or appointed representative of an affiliated club in Great Britain and Ireland, must enter details of their club qualifying round, winner information and make the relevant payment of entry fees on-line at www.randa.ore
10. Submission of an entry does not guarantee participation in the Championship. You will be notified of your entry status after the closing date, The R&A will not be liable to pay any money to you by way of compensation for any loss, damage, cost or expense suffered by you, which was not reasonably foreseeable when your entry was confirmed after the closing date, and/or was not caused by The R&A.
11. By agreeing to be bound by these regulations and conditions, you are consenting to The R&A collecting and storing certain personal data about you. This data will be used to provide further details of the event and may be stored by The R&A. This data will not be used other than in the normal course of our business.
12. In all cases, the decision of the Committee is final.
Area Finals

Each Area Final shall consist of 18 holes of foursomes stableford.
The best 100 scores will qualify for the Area Final, which is held at 16 venues around Great Britain and Ireland and will consist of 18 holes of foursomes Stableford. The best 100 scores based on all club qualifying rounds will gain a spot in an Area Final of their choice, calculated as follows: 36 + (Course par — Course Rating) — team Stableford points scored. Thereafter you will be offered an alternative Area Final venue. This is restricted to one pair per club. The Manager will maintain a reserve list in order of scores returned.
In the event of a pair withdrawing from an Area Final, the next available pair on the waiting list
will qualify.
Handicap stroke allowance — 50% of combined team Course Handicaps (all half strokes to be rounded up).
All competitors must register in person, with proof of their WHS Handicap Index , not less than 15 minutes before their starting time.
The organising committee reserves the right to amend starting times and groups and to appoint a marker if necessary.
In the event of a tie, the winner shall be decided by card countback on the number of team Stableford points scored for the last 9 holes (or 6 or 3 or 1). If a tie still arises, the last 6 holes of the first 9 holes (or 3 or 1) will be used. If no decision is reached, a card play-off from the 1st hole will apply, failing which, the winner will be decided by ballot.
In the event of adverse weather conditions curtailing play, the organising committee, whose decision shall be final, shall decide upon the most equitable method and where practical alter the format of the competition in order to achieve a result. Failing which, the winner will be decided by ballot.
Winners of the national Area Finals in Great Britain and Ireland shall be eligible to play in the Grand Final.
The Manager of each Area Final shall send a copy of the results to The R&A Office. In all cases, the decision of the Manager/R&A representative is final.
Grand Final
1. The Grand Final shall consist of 18 holes of foursomes stableford.
2. In the event of a withdrawal from the Grand Final, the next available pair from the withdrawing
pairs’ Area Final will qualify.
3. Handicap allowance — 50% of combined team Course Handicaps (all half strokes to be rounded
‘ p)
4. All competitors must register in person, with proof of their WHS Handicap Index, not less than
15 minutes before their starting time.
5. The organising committee reserves the right to amend starting times and groups and to appoint a marker if necessary.
6. In the event of a tie, the winner shall be decided by card countback on the scores for the last 9 holes (or 6 or 3 or 1). If a tie still arises the last 6 holes of the first 9 holes (or 3 or 1) will be used. If no decision is reached, a card play-off from the 1st hole will apply, failing which, the winner will be decided by ballot.

8. Trophies will be awarded to the winning pair and shall be held for one year.
9. The 2021 Coronation Foursomes - Approved by The R&A for the payment of expenses - Rule 4- 2g RA/04/2021. The R&A grants approval for the payment of expenses only in terms of the Rules of Amateur Status and such approval should not be considered as any general approval or endorsement of the competition or its organisers and/or promoters.
10. In all cases, the decision of The R&A is final.
